The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHCCI) is one of the Pilbara’s biggest and most powerful business network with more than 380 members. PHCCI is an active, independent, not-for-profit organisation that prides itself on delivering high-quality services, events and initiatives that make it easier to do business in Hedland. With a strong focus on developing strategies for economic growth and business investment, PHCCI seeks to create an environment filled with opportunity and possibility for future generations. In doing so, it is committed to ensuring local small to medium-sized businesses succeed and remain important contributors to the diversity of the region’s local economy. Some of the organisation’s annual highlights include its monthly Business After Hours networking events, the Business of the Year Awards and a popular Business Breakfast series.
BHP has been part of the West Australian community for over 50 years and the Pilbara is central to the company’s global success. BHP is committed to ensuring the economic benefits of their operations are shared across Pilbara communities through employment, local procurement and community investment in education, training and infrastructure. Recognising that it can often be challenging for smaller businesses to engage as a supplier for BHP, in late 2017 BHP expanded their Local Buying Program to the Pilbara. This program makes it easier for local business owners to competitively bid for direct supply opportunities.
