The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc (PHCCI) is excited to announce that BHP has signed on to be the event partner for 2018 Hedland Economic and Resources Forum.

The Forum will be hosted at the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema in South Hedland on the 4th of July.

Newly appointed PHCCI President Peter Carter said that he was looking forward to being involved in the Forum this year.

“Much has changed in the last few years in the Pilbara and I’d like to see businesses stabilise and build up at a more consistent pace,” said Peter.

“With BHP as a major employer and contributor within the town I think it’s fantastic they have come on board to support this event.

“We are responsible for creating our own future and I would like the local business community to embrace change and move forward with positivity.”

BHP’s Pilbara corporate Affairs Manager, Danielle van Kampen, said the forum provided a unique opportunity for business, government and community to come together and focus on the long-term goals of the region.

“BHP is anticipating another productive event this year and I’m particularly looking forward to discussing how we can all work collaboratively to ensure continued prosperity for our local community,” said Danielle.

Another key theme for the event will cover infrastructure as a key to unlocking Port Hedland’s potential as a competitive international gateway.

“The tourism market remains untapped in Port Hedland however there is a lot of interest from international markets,” said Peter.

“We need to start thinking about how we can maximise these opportunities.”

The event will attract speakers from big employers within the region as well as focusing in on what’s happening on a local level.

“We want to bring a really local flavor to this event by talking specifically to projects and operations happening right here, right now as well as what the future holds.” said Peter.

Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA CEO Kitty Prodonovich will take to the stage as Master of Ceremonies. The program and confirmed speakers will be announced closer to the event.

Sponsorship opportunities are open and enquiries can be made by contacting the PHCCI.
